Product Safety

We want you to enjoy your MSS product with peace of mind while ensuring your safety and that of others remains our highest priority. The information below is to draw your attention to the points you should consider before common points and traits one should expect when installing aftermarket products to your standard road vehicle. Observing these common traits and the safety points will ensure your safe enjoyment and that of other road users:

Pre-install Information

  • Guard against physical damages/bodily injury during product install due to lack of care or attention.
  • Do not perform any Illegal lowering or raising of the vehicle.
  • Make sure any modifications do not invalidate the vehicle’s type approval.
  • Ensure any modifications do not result in the loss of warranty issued by vehicle manufacturer.
  • Make sure you declare to your vehicle insurer, all non-standard parts fitted to your vehicle.

Post-Install Characteristics

  • Lack of compression
  • Reduced ground clearance
  • Significantly modified handling
  • Significant load changing responses when braking or accelerating
  • Significantly modified braking responses
  • Loss of spring bias for wheels with rebound travel
  • Problems with the clearance of wheels/tyres or chassis

Long Term Use

  • Spring breakage after being affected by heavy corrosion
  • Significant worsening with wet/snow-covered road
  • Spring breakage after long use
  • Deformation or warping or fissuring of the vehicle chassis
  • Increased wear-and-tear when vehicle alignment is not checked and corrected regularly
  • Misalignments concerning shock absorbers and body bracing
  • Change of response characteristics or failure of the antilock brake system
  • Over braking/locking up of rear axle on vehicles with load-dependent braking responses

General notes about chassis springs

Installation and removal of the springs can be hazardous because springs are under bias tension, which can cause property damage or personal injuries if handled incorrectly. Only specially trained technicians employed by an authorised shop and using suitable special tools should, therefore, install or remove springs.

Do not place the vehicle on tyre mounting racks and never lift with car jacks when installing or removing springs – always a properly functioning auto hoist or lifting platform. Working under an improperly secured vehicle can cause severe bodily injuries and even death.

Check all screws and bolts to ensure proper torque; especially check screws and bolts on rims and wheels. Damaged parts must always be replaced. Refer to the workshop manual for your vehicle produced by the car manufacturer to get the correct torque for each nut removed or replaced.

The following inspections and possible readjustments must be carried out by an authorised shop after the springs have been changed:

  • Clearance of wheels and tyres from other components such as fenders, brakes, brake lines, sensors and cables (anti-lock brake system, etc.)
  • Brake systems and especially the associated control systems
  • Height control/adjustment, if needed
  • Track and axle settings

In case of noncompliance with these rules and regulations, systems may fail and lead to serious damage or even injuries.

Replacing the springs can drastically change the handling of the vehicle. Take note of this changed handling when first using your vehicle to slowly become familiar with and get used to the different handling.

Unusual handling or driving behaviour of the vehicle can be due to unsuitable springs, an installation or adjustment error. If this is the case, please have your vehicle inspected by a qualified technician or workshop. Further use of a vehicle equipped with unsuitable or damaged springs can cause severe property damage and bodily injury.

MSS springs are manufactured and tested/inspected in accordance with strict quality standards and specifications by Eibach. However, certain circumstances can lead to product damage. Always use the springs in compliance with the following:
Make sure you are using the right type of spring/stabiliser designed specifically for your application (motorsports, standard public roads, etc.). If you are in doubt, then contact us at info@mss.company.

Do not exceed statutory and/or suggested maximum speeds.

Never exceed the maximum axial loads specified by the vehicle manufacturer, whatever the reason(s) may be.

Do not subject the vehicle to excessive wear and tear by driving cross-country or on unfinished roads.

Do not subject the vehicle to excessive wear and tear due to aggressive and/or unusual steering or manoeuvring.

Chassis springs are designed exclusively for use in vehicles. We therefore strongly advise against any other use. Severe property damage or physical injuries may be the result.

Always comply with the safety notes listed above – it is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that these safety notes are made available or passed to the new owner or driver if the products or vehicles equipped with these products are sold, rented, or leased.
